KING ALFRED'S WAY

CYCLING IN WILTSHIRE

If you’re looking to immerse yourself in 10,000 years of history, this 350km cycling loop around historic Wessex (the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Alfred the Great), is perfect for you, and Finch Cottage is located directly on the route! Starting and ending in Winchester, where Alfred is buried, you will experience some of the most iconic monuments the UK has to offer; from Stonehenge, Old Sarum, Avebury stone circle and Iron Age hill forts to Farnham Castle, Winchester and Salisbury Cathedrals.

Our BnB is located quite early on in the route so we may not be ideal for the experienced cyclist who wants to cover a lot of miles over the first few days, but if you’re looking to ease yourself into the ride and enjoy the delights of the Woodford Valley and surrounding area (and maybe partake in a drink or two at the local pub in the evening!), then we could be the ideal stop-over for your group.

We are able to garage your equipment and bikes overnight and have a hose, tools & bike-pump on-site. Each of the three bedrooms has a dedicated en-suite shower room and after a relaxing night’s sleep we offer a continental-style breakfast of orange juice, coffee, tea, a range of cereals, toast and warm pastries, ready to get you going on the next leg of your journey.

Please see the individual room pages for amenities and contact us at our email or telephone number if you’d like to enquire about availability.
